Install your pet

Windows

Extract the ZIP. Press Win+R, enter %USERPROFILE%\.codex and open or create the pets folder. Copy the whole cp_… folder into pets. The final path should be pets/cp_…/pet.json with spritesheet.webp beside it. Do not drag the ZIP or an extra outer folder.

macOS

Extract the ZIP. In Finder press Command+Shift+G, enter ~/.codex and open or create pets. Copy the cp_… folder inside. If CODEX_HOME is customized, use its pets subfolder instead.

Refresh the list

Leave Mini & Pets settings and open it again, then select your pet. This resolved the missing-item report in our Windows test. If it still does not appear, check the nesting and current user directory, then save work before fully quitting and reopening the app. For help: [email protected].

Install with one command

Install Node.js 24 or newer (including npm), then download your purchased ZIP in the browser. Open a terminal in the download folder and run the command below. Replace the example filename with your downloaded ZIP filename; no extraction is needed.

Use the full path to your downloaded ZIP, enclosed in quotes. On Windows, right-click the ZIP and choose Copy as path. Replace only the final ZIP argument; do not extract first. If PowerShell shows >>, press Ctrl+C and check both quotes. ENOENT means the ZIP path is incorrect. An installer 404 means the site asset is unavailable; use manual installation below.

Windows PowerShell

  1. Download the ZIP; do not extract it.
  2. Shift + right-click the ZIP in File Explorer and choose Copy as path.
  3. Replace ONLY the final quoted ZIP argument below with that copied path. Do not change the installer URL or the command before it. Keep exactly one pair of double quotes around the path.
  4. Paste the full command into PowerShell and press Enter. When you see Installed, restart the Codex client and select your pet.

Use the full path to your own downloaded ZIP. Keep one pair of double quotes around it.

macOS Terminal

Select the ZIP in Finder and press Option + Command + C. Replace only the final quoted ZIP argument with that path, keep the quotes, then run the full command in Terminal. When you see Installed, restart the Codex client and select your pet.

This downloads the CodePets installer and installs the pet folder into CODEX_HOME/pets, or .codex/pets in your home directory if unset. Existing pets are not overwritten. Restart the Codex client and select your pet.
